A Brief Rundown of Resort Bars and Views on Koh Phangan

For those of you who plan to come to Koh Phangan, Thailand which, if you like yoga, island vibes, beautiful beaches and tropical weather, (and of course the popular full moon party, which I’ve yet to check out but sounds pretty hectic!) then I absolutely recommend experiencing at least once in your life– here is a list of some of the restaurants, beach bars and resorts I’ve checked out on the island so far:

  • Phangan Beach Resort– Tucked away behind a layer of trees down a dirt path off the main beach road on the western portion of the island, you will find Phangan Beach Resort. After crossing a small bridge and following a dirt path beside the ocean, the beautiful restaurant at the resort, which is nestled between Happy Beach and Orion Healing Centre, just behind Diamond Buffet, overlooks the crystal clear water and offers a massive menu of different types of food. If you’re craving pizza I definitely recommend trying their’s! (The photos of the ships below are from the bay right before you get to the resort)

  • Utopia Resort: The other night I drove up to the northern part of the island to check out the view and have a drink at Utopia Resort. The view of Haad Thong Lang bay was beautiful and the atmosphere in the late afternoon was super chill… plus, their drinks weren’t too expensive, I had a mojito for 120 baht = $3.34 USD

  • Sea Garden II Resort: This resort has a beautiful infinity pool overlooking the water in Haad Chao Phao on the north west part of Koh Phangan. During the day they play mostly mainstream techno and house, nothing too intense, but it definitely sets the typical beach party vacation atmosphere. The people are really nice and the grounds are breath taking, they even have this lounge area inside the water, which is pretty cool– but their drinks are bit pricey comparatively, a mojito, and most mixed drinks for that matter, are 190 baht.

  • Golden Rock: A secluded bare bones bungalow style place that you would not know exists if you didn’t travel down this small dirt path on the left of the main beach road just past the laundry and scooter repair shop in Srithanu a few hundred yards before Mateo’s Pizza. The have a little hut bungalow restaurant where the prices are pretty unbeatable for a view on Ao Sri Thanu beach. I paid 370 baht for three mojitos and two coconuts for my friend and I– the only other places I’ve found that have comparable prices are in town in Thong Sala.
